What Is The Life Center?

The Life Center is a California-based, non-profit, corporation set up by R. Robin Coté for the purpose of assisting people as they step out of  limited and antiquated, religious belief systems and into Spiritual Awareness.°   We follow the philosophy that all religions have  portions of the truth, but that none have either all the truth nor exclusive access to the truth.    We also support the rights and the freedom of those who choose to refrain from expressing any religious beliefs.

We have no physical church.   Neither do we have a congregation nor do we preach any specific belief system.   The  Life  Center is  a church without walls.   It's in our hearts and on the soles of our feet.   That is, we do our work in the world.   We go wherever we're called to go.

We specialize in Healing and Counseling, and we create and officiate personalize life-cycle ceremonies such as weddings.   As a function of our life coaching, we teach others how to apply practical spiritual principles to their  moment-by-moment, everyday lives.   We teach people how to connect with their inner Divine Essence  so they can, on their own, connect to "God"  and live by the guidance and wisdom that comes directly to them as a result of that connection.

By utilizing practical, applied, real-life spirituality, we are able to view our lives in an expanded context, and thus, relate to the external world as individual, Divine expressions of our Eternal-Selves.  Our purpose is to assist each other in aligning our consciousness to “The Highest Essence of All That Is.”

.

Our intentions are:

l    To seek the truth regardless of where that truth leads us,

l    To seek joy,

l    To seek freedom and peace for ourselves and for each other,

l     To regularly manifest grander and grander expressions of who we choose to be,

l    To always function within the context of the highest good for all concerned in the long-run,

l    To be positive or neutral in our effect upon others, and

l    To inspire others to do likewise.

.

Our basic context includes:

l    Creating the greatest love, the greatest joy, and the greatest freedom for ourselves and for the greatest number of others.

l    Being positive or neutral in our effect on ourselves, on others and on our environment.

l    Taking actions that maximize love, care, and compassion for ourselves and for all others while minimizing the costs in time, money, resources, effort, and physical and emotional pain.

l    Serving ourselves and our fellow God-Beings to the best of our ability.

 Author's Formal Training     ...

The Author's Formal Training

Question:  You've never attended seminary training.  What gives you the right and the qualifications to call yourself a minister and speak about God?

Answer:  Regarding my having missed official seminary training, I say it's been a blessing to have missed being indoctrinated into a closed-minded belief system where students are taught what to think and not how to think.   And one other thing, seminary training comes from men and those men come from a lineage that, in  all too many cases, is something to be ashamed of° and not to be proud of.

I've spent years studying the messages from numerous religious philosophical teachers and learning the art of living.   After twenty-five years of study and experience, I now feel qualified to wear the title, reverend.   If you or anybody else disapproves, you'd be wise to look inside yourself and find the source of your disapproval.

In terms of my legal status,  that's also an issue of men.   I am officially ordained as a minister (a Spiritual and Life Consultant) with a state and federally recognized non-profit church corporation called "The Life Center."

Speaking About God And let me assure you that nobody, myself included, speaks about God.   We speak about our beliefs about God; we offer speculation, and conjecture about God; and we tell stories that we like to think of as the truth about God, but  whatever that unknown and unknowable source is, it's beyond our human understanding.   It's beyond our capacity to say anything with certainty.   It transcends provability.   It's uncertainty to the nth degree.   It's the ultimate mystery of life.   So I assure you that neither I, nor anybody else, speaks about God.   (Readers are invited to view the page titled:   Spiritual Awareness°  and the page titled:   Faith.° )

From what I've learned over the years,  I see no evidence that "The-Source-of-life-and-the-Universe" is concerned about what I do or don't do.   I, like everyone else, appear to be a part of something greater and grander and wiser than I am as a human being.    The guidance for my behavior seems to come from an inner knowing of what is right, just, wise, and loving.   You may call that:  "Knowing what God wants."   You could even stretch that to say,  "I know what God wants me to do,"  but for anybody  to say that they know what God wants somebody else to do is either foolishness or it's an outright con job.

Religions have created an image of God as a super-human being sitting above the clouds in a place called heaven.   And of course God is of the masculine gender.  From heaven, He dictates orders, creates miracles, and hires true believers to punish the unfaithful.

I speak not about God, but rather about the hypocrisy,  the half-truths, the lies of commission, and the lies of omission that are daily peddled by men who claim to be speaking for God and claim to know what God wants them and you to do.   I feel called to challenge these assaults on the truth.

A Personal Story:    Let me share a personal story with you and see if you had a similar experience in your life.   As a child I, like everyone else,  was brought up in a particular culture with its own set of beliefs and behaviors.  In my case, it was working class, east-coast American with strong Roman Catholic beliefs.   I assumed that my family's beliefs and behaviors were normal.   I also thought that everybody else was pretty much as we were.   What differences I was aware of were relatively minor.   Some people had more money than we did, and some people went to a different local church.  I knew that people in far off places had different ways of living, but my  knowledge of those differences went only as far as a parental admonition,  "Eat your spinach, because people in India were starving."

What I didn't find out until I was older was that other people's cultures, beliefs, and behaviors were significantly different from mine, and that what I considered to be  normal was considered by some people to be deviant and strange.

It looks beyond  the distorted truths and beyond the emotional rhetoric.   It offers  a unique perspective into the unexamined evidence and exposes the real consequences of outlawing abortion.   The overall intention of this book is to speak to the truth about abortion -- to allow the truth to lead to its own conclusions.

6*  Papa Bear®

As part of a Special Forces Team, on October 31, 1972, at 11:30 pm, under the code name Papa Bear®,  Tony - - - - - -  parachuted into the North Vietnamese jungle.   He spent  three years there playing a deadly cat and mouse game with the Viet Cong.

Of the dozens of special forces troopers sent behind enemy lines for extended duty, he is the only one who survived and returned to talk about it.   His memories were so terrible that for over twenty-five years, this story remained buried in his mind.   Only because I am a personal friend of his was I able to bring it to the surface and get him to talk about it..  This is a true Vietnam story I'll guarantee you've never heard before.   Click Here °  for an  excerpt from the book.

.

7*  Listen®

In almost every story where the good guy conquers the evil villain, the good guy simply "out-violences" the opponent with stronger muscles, bigger guns, faster cars, more unique killing gadgets, more powerful explosions and the like.   In other words, evil is defeated by a stronger evil.

Almost every villain is a maniacal, egocentric, atheistic lunatic who already has more money than he could spend in 400 lifetimes, and yet, there he is doing evil for more money, which by the end of the story gets him killed and sent off to hell.

Wouldn't you think that after eighty years of movies and centuries of novels, that someone could come up with a different way of putting the traditional  bad guy out of the evil-pedaling business?   Well, in the novel, Listen®  does just that.

Unfortunately, I can't tell you how that is accomplished until  the novel is completely written and accepted by a publisher.

Quotes From Robin

l    The game of life plays you until you learn to play the game.

l    Either I am a lunatic whose ideas will disappear without a trace or a visionary whose vision represents the future of humanity.

l    Life is filled with significance and meaning, all of which is insignificant and meaningless.

l    Some startling and conflicting conclusions are revealed when viewing  Evolution ,    The Death Penalty,     Abortion,    and  Human Cloning   from each of the three basic perspectives on life, Atheism,     Christian one-life-ism,    and  Reincarnation.    Each belief system offers its own meaning, suggests different implications, and comes to conclusions that directly contradict the other two.

l    When one percent of the population controls ninety percent of the wealth,
it doesn't take a genius to figure out that something is seriously wrong.

l    In a closed mind, the truth is no match for a good fantasy.   In an open mind, even the grandest fantasy is no match for the truth.
