Introduction:

For those who have eyes willing to see, ears willing to hear, and minds willing to know the truth, The Reasonables' New-Vision  Project  is creating a new vision of Christianity base of the available evidence and based on the previously ignored variations on the themes given to us by the teachings of Jesus.   

It brings in the latest available scientific evidence about how the universe appears to function.   The N.V.P. also offers religious theories that are a function of what the evidence tells us are the most probably answers to life's greatest mysteries.   The N.V.P. exposes and examines several heretofore ignored aspects of the Christian religion.   (i.e.  Christianity without the dogma and the fairytales.)**

The Reasonables' New-Vision  Project  is showing participants how to take the middlemen (the religion's hierarchies) out of the connection between everyday human life and the invisible consciousness commonly referred to as "God."   As Martin Luther adamantly proclaimed in 1517, and as is clearly spelled out in the Christian Bible,  Church hierarchies are NOT necessary to connect to God.***  Connections to your church are very valuable for many reasons, but your relationship to a church is not an essential ingredient in connecting to God.

Sexual Preference:   

All are welcome to participate in The Reasonables' New-Vision  Project  regardless of your sexual preferences or lifestyle.    Discriminating against someone based solely upon sexual preference or lifestyle is still another way to play us-against-them   It, too, focuses on separation rather than unity.    In the N.V.P. everyone is considered to be an equally sacred part of creation.   Discrimination is reserved for the selection of such things as a fine wine and for knowing when a con artist is talking.

Sexual Abstinence:   

Sexual abstinence for all including leaders and young adults is considered to be a matter of personal choice on the part of each individual.   Forced sexual abstinence of anyone and the ardent promoting of sexual abstinence are seen as the perpetuation of a sexual perversion.   (Readers are directed to the page titled,   Sex or Violence -- It's an either or choice.°)    All sexual activity is considered to be sacred in nature and a matter of personal choice.  

During this cycle of AIDS and rampant sexually transmitted diseases, how to fulfill one's sexual needs outside of a long-term committed relationship  is offered in a novel format in the trilogy called The Yoni Dance Books.°

Violence:  

Violence does NOT solve problems, however, if participants in the N.V.P. are approached in a violent or unethical manner the perpetrator can expect to receive ten-fold of whatever he/she directs our way.   We intend to raise the price of unethical behavior° to such a level that those considering such behavior will either change their behavior or direct their activities elsewhere.  

Evidence-Based Truths:    

All religious beliefs are re-labeled as what they are -- theories about reality.°    Nothing related to The Reasonables' New-Vision Project  is carved in stone except perhaps art.    Theories about the nature of reality and activities related to the  N.V.P. are evidence based.   Because the truth can easily stand in the light of open questioning, the N.V.P. Team invites you or anybody else to question the validity of any of the project's statements and activities.   Critics are invited to allow their "truths" to also be openly examined and tested against the presently available evidence.      (Ref:   The Three Variations of "The Truth")°

Partial Truths:  

Everybody has a piece of the truth, but nobody has the complete truth.   Unfortunately and all to frequently, small pieces of truth have been declared to be the complete truth.  The N.V.P. Team  asks for proof from those who have declared their beliefs to be "the truth."   Why ask questions?   Because the validity of partial truths which have been declared to be  the complete truth quickly falls apart under the light of open questioning while universal truths stand the test of time and are empowered by being questioned.  

The N.V.P. Team seeks the complete truth about all aspects of life.    The Biblical passage "Know the truth and the truth shall set you free!" is expanded to say  "Know the truth, know the complete truth, know that which is false but is claimed to be the truth, and your knowledge shall set you free!"    Readers are invited to ask and answer this question:  Is my "holy truth" whole or is it simply full of holes?    

Re-establishing Environmental Harmony:   

A balance need to be established between the number of humans on the planet and the Earth's capacity to provide the necessary life support systems that are sustainable in  the long term.   This relationship is presently way out of balance.   Collectively, humans are drastically altering the Earth's environment and destroying the Earth's capacity to support human life at a level that is more than just survival.   If humans do not address this problem, mother nature is going to do it for us.   And if humans leave the correction to nature, it is very likely that billions will die and those left living will find themselves in a very different and much more hostile, Earthly environment.  

As just one example, at the rate the polar ice caps and the mountain top glaciers are melting, the ocean water level  will rise by thirty feet by the end of this century.   A vast amount of coastal city land will be under water.

The Many Pathways to God:    

There are no wrong religions, including the religion called atheism.   (Atheism, like all other beliefs about God, has no evidence to support it.   It, too, is based on belief and on a leap of faith.°)   Every religious belief is honored.   Every religious belief is considered another sacred path to "God."   There are no infidels.   The label "infidels," which comes from the Latin word "infidelis" meaning "unfaithful," is reserved for those who intentionally renege on a commitment.   

Unity Versus Separation:     

The evidence tells us that humans and and everything else in the known universe are all part of a unified whole -- a single oneness.   The evidence tells us that humans are NOT separate from God, NOT separate from nature, NOT separate from each other, and NOT separate from the other life forms on this planet.    

To think the humans can dominate, control and subdue the Earth is a self-destructive fantasy.   The Biblical prerogative to have dominion of the Earth's resources is sanely and logically interpreted as:   Be stewards, protectors, and harvesters of the Earth's ever replenishing abundance.   

Instead, it is being insanely interpreted as license from God to rape, pillage and plunder on the way to heaven.    Humans have become parasites upon Sacred Mother Earth.   Collectively, we rape her daily with impunity.   If human kind is to survive, this attitude and its ensuing behavior must be eliminated.   See the section titled:  Chief Seattle.°   

Self Image:   

The intentional destruction of a person's self-image while he/she is a defenseless little child is seriously counterproductive.    Peddling the belief that humans  are inherently evil has to stop.   Pumping  this highly destructive fantasy into the minds of defenseless little children is a serous violation of human decency.   

One has but to examine human behavior in a crisis situation to see that peddling the belief that humans  are inherently evil is a fraud.   On countless occasions, people have, without a second thought risked their live to save a fellow human being or an animal in danger.  This is quite the antithesis of inherently evil behavior.     

The inherently evil story came to us out of the dark ages, from superstitious men who, in the absence of evidence or answers to life's major questions, made up stories to fill in the gaps.    The men who created the inherently evil story believed that the Earth was flat, and as history tells us, they also engaged is despicable behavior°  and  exploited the public for power, wealth and opulence.°   (Also see the section titled: Eve and the Forbidden Fruit.°   Teaching  a new and healthy self-image for humans is  high on N.V.P.'s  priority list.    

Exclusive Access to God:   

Church leaders  say that they (the leaders)  have access God but their followers don't.   Dependency upon a church structure for salvation is another fantasy that is counterproductive.   There is absolutely no evidence to support this claim.    

They also proclaim that only Christians have access to God and only Christians go to heaven.   This story also originated in the dark ages, and again, there is absolutely no evidence to support it .   Martin Luther blew this story apart in 1517.°   It's even contradicted in the Christian Bible by the words of Jesus himself,  ( Matthew 6:5-6)°   and yet, it's still being used today to bring in followers and the money and  the services that come from those loyal followers.   

Knowing God:   

Church leaders claim to know what "God" is.   They claim  to know how the source of the universe functions and they claim to know when life begins, but even the official Roman Catholic Encyclopedia says that their claims are false.°   And the Christian Bible says that humans do not know how God functions. (See Ecclesiastes 11:5° and Ecclesiastes 3:11)° 

Earth to God Versus God to Earth          ...

Earth to God Versus God to Earth:   

For centuries, church leaders have taught that the purpose of human life was getting to heaven to be with God.    The evidence  points in quite the opposite direction --  that the purpose of human life is to bring Divinity to Earth --   that we are eternal, non-physical divine beings (as Jesus said we are°) temporarily experiencing physical reality by way of physical Earth bodies.   This is also the underlying belief in all the Eastern religions.   (See the next section.)

Another Religion's Point of View         ...

Another Religion' s Point of View:   

In direct contradiction to Christian theology, the leaders of the Eastern religions who have billions of followers say:

"Physical matter is only a very small part of reality.   Life does not begin at conception, or at birth, or anywhere else,  and life does not end at death.   Humans are not physical bodies.   Humans are eternal, non-physical, divine beings who temporarily inhabit physical bodies.   Everything is   a part of   and intimately related to   everything else.    An 'Intelligent Creator' created everything we know about and everything we still don't know about.   The 'Intelligent Creator' is beyond human knowledge and understanding.  Humans are part of and co-creators with 'God.'    Within the context of life on Earth, we are the creators of our personal experiences."

As a point of comparison, here's a brief summary of the fundamentalist Christian perspective:

Humans are their physical bodies.  Humans are separate from nature and separate from God.   God is also separate from nature.   The sole purpose for all of creation is to get people into Christian heaven.   The only thing that exists beyond physical reality is Christian heaven and Satan's hell.**1   The Christian God magically created the universe and everything in it in six Earth days.    God magically creates a brand new human being every time a human egg and sperm unite.  Humans are at the effect of their environment.   Humans are inherently evil.  The only way to change one's Earthly life  is by pleading to God.

One might also note what the scientific community is telling us:

Physical matter is not real.  Everything is made up of energy.  Everything is intimately related to everything else.  Physical human bodies evolved from other life forms.   Religious questions are left undefined.
